This record stored her income as "Co-founded Maven ($25M+ raised)". Capital raised from investors is not income. It is someone else's money, taken on terms, against an obligation to return more of it later. And in a database about how people make money, filing it under earnings is a category error rather than a rounding one.
The body was also eight hundred words with no date, figure, quotation or source. The facts are on her own pages.
What Is Documented
She co-founded Maven, a platform for live cohort-based courses, which raised $25M from First Round Capital and Andreessen Horowitz: a $20M Series A led by a16z announced in May 2021, with the balance raised earlier. Her own newsletter page reports Maven has "served 65,000+ students, and helped instructors earn $20M+".
Before that she co-founded the altMBA with Seth Godin, growing it to "thousands of alumni in 550 cities in 45 countries and creating the cohort-based course category". That claim to having created the category is hers, and it is not an unreasonable one. The altMBA is what most people in this space were imitating.
She now describes herself as an executive coach, teaches on Maven, and writes a newsletter.
The Credential Has an Ending
One thing her copy does not mention, and this record should: the altMBA closed in 2024. Its own site now describes it in the past tense, with the dates 2015-2024 and a page titled "Saying Goodbye". This database covers Seth Godin separately and records the same fact there.
That does not diminish what she built. A programme running nine years across 45 countries is a real achievement, and shutting one down is not a failure of the person who left it years earlier. But a reader meeting "co-founder of the altMBA" as a live credential should know the thing being pointed at no longer exists, and that the cohort-based model she helped create has been closing down across the industry, Maven's own category included.
Prices
Maven is a marketplace; individual instructors set their own fees, so "Maven courses vary" is accurate rather than evasive. Her own course on the platform is priced there. No single figure applies to her.

Green Flags
- Co-founded the altMBA with Seth Godin, growing it to thousands of alumni across 45 countries
- Maven publishes aggregate outcomes - 65,000+ students served, $20M+ earned by instructors - rather than only its funding
- Built real platform
- Executive experience
- Thought leadership quality
Red Flags
- This record previously recorded "$25M+ raised" as her income; capital raised from investors is not money earned, and the two should never share a field in a database about how people make money
- Her signature credential, the altMBA she co-founded with Seth Godin, closed in 2024 - the programme is described in the past tense on its own site
- Less direct teaching now
- Maven focus limits breadth
