PayPal fee calculator
Getting paid through PayPal costs a percentage, and sometimes a fixed fee, depending on how the buyer pays. See what you receive before you send the invoice.
PayPal fees in the US
For goods and services payments between US accounts, PayPal charges the seller 2.99% with no fixed fee, a rate in place since July 2022. Payments made through PayPal Checkout on a website cost 3.49% plus $0.49. Payments from outside the US add 1.5%.
Friends and family payments are free between US bank-funded accounts, but they are meant for personal transfers and carry no purchase protection, so use goods and services when you are selling something.
Passing the fee to your client
If you want to receive a set amount, divide what you need by one minus the fee rate. The calculator does this for you. Check that your platform and local rules allow surcharges before you add the fee to an invoice.
